Mirai Suenaga Smart Doll Gathering

Last Saturday I went out for my very first Smart Doll gathering ! I know I haven't been updating my blog much but if you follow my Facebook Page ( which I update daily ), you will know that I got myself a Smart Doll last April . 

This Smart Doll gathering is organized by Team Crimson Force . I met them last year through Danny during a movie gathering ~ since then they have been inviting me for movies and card games outing. I wouldn't lie that I was kinda nervous and shy when I first met them for the first time but they welcomed me like a part of their family lol ! /shy

For this gathering , I made Mirai-chan a new outfit ! 

I'm still new in making doll apparels though I've been making costumes for myself , 8 years and still counting. Doll apparels are so small and I think it requires even more patience when it comes to sewing. This is my second doll apparel made !

This dress is made with all the things that I like : Laces.

These laces are those that I use for my cosplay costumes as well. I'm still not very good in making doll patterns , but I'm slowly learning. It's feels like when I first started making costumes , making patterns do scare me a lot .

I think Mirai-chan looks cute in this strapless mini dress !

I added some pink details , charms and more laces.

Use back lacing for the opening because my pattern made can't really fit Mirai-chan. Thank God that I came up with this idea. It made it look like a short wedding gown !

My cat , Trumpet has taken a liking towards Mirai-chan. She is always sleeping / laying down near Mirai-chan. They look so cute together !

I don't have a bag to carry Mirai around , so I brought her out with the Smart Doll paperbag ! It's very convenient bringing her around like this ~ glad that I still kept the paperbags.

Seems like I still have much more to practice and learn when it comes to handling my girls.

I hope that there will be more gatherings like this in the future !
It's so much fun talking about dolls with other doll enthusiasts , sharing about information and ideas ! ( Besides , Mirai-chan gets to meet her sisters XD )

We had lunch in Food Republic after watching Minions.
This must be the most expensive mixed rice I ever had , it's RM 16 lol.
To be fair , it was really delicious so I guess it's okay ! Paired up with my fav " Teh Ais ".

After lunch , we went to a cafe for some card games.
Joshua , our Lord Of Card Games brought his deck of " Card Against Humanity. "
I've heard of this game but it's my first time playing it.

Basically , we have Black and White card. The Black cards are question cards and the white cards are the answers. So each round , one person will draw a question card , then all the players will submit their answers. The one who asks the question then will pick the answer that he/she likes the most. ( very ez game )

This game is hilarious lol.

I think it's a super fun game and everyone laughed a lot when playing it. It's really enjoyable because you get to see who is the " terrible person " among yourselves. The more terrible you are , the most likely you will walk away as the winner !

Cosplay Tutorial | How To Make Ribbons Bows

Hello Everyone !

Do you miss me ? * hides *

I'm back with another simple costume making tutorial ~ It's one of the common elements in cosplay costumes , and you can see it all the time in any anime / manga / games ! It's something that I enjoy making a lot , it's Ribbons or also known as Bows ! (｡´∀｀)ﾉ

Making ribbons is really simple and you can make one in like 15 minutes ? Here's what you need , the measurement varies - depending on how big the bow you want it to be :

Piece A ( 2 x pieces ) = 10 x 12 Inches

Piece B ( 2 x pieces ) = 8 x 20 Inches

Piece C ( 1 x piece ) = 2 x 5 Inches

Here's how it looks like when you sewn the two pieces together ! It's a simple stitch , just sew along the line and turn it inside out. I love playing with the materials to make my bows look more interesting , I layered my usual matte satin with a thin sequinned fabric to make it for sparkly because it's a Love Live costume ! (❁´▽`❁)*✲ﾟ*

So now , put Piece A over Piece B , around in the midpoint of both pieces.

Place Piece C on top of Piece A !

Hold Piece C so that it can form a loop to hold Piece A + Piece B together !

Hold it with a pin at the back ~  (≧∇≦)/

.... and check the front of the bow. Sometimes it might be too tight or too loose , you can make some adjustments before stitching it up ! 

Here , you can see that I'm using a blanket stitch ! For tiny places like this , it's better that you hand sew for neater finishing ! 

Ta-da ~~~~~~~~ It's done !! (❁´‿`❁)*✲ﾟ*

As you can see here , the bow stands out much more because of the layering of fabric that I choose ~ you can play with different types of fabric to create a different look / feel !

Miss Astro Chinese International 2013 Finalist Showcase @ Paradigm Mall

Hello guys !

Today I will be sharing about my experience in my first designing competition as a fashion design student. My lecturer picked 5 students from my batch last week and I was really honored to be one of the students to be chosen. I'm not really good in designing nor the best in my class but I'm happy that my lecturer somehow have faith in me LOL , I think.

And so we will be doing a LIVE 10 minutes t-shirt alteration for the Miss Astro Chinese International 2013 finalists on stage @ Paradigm Mall. I was nervous because I'm not much of a competitive person but I did give it a try anyways since I wanted to try something new , a brand new experience for me !






The theme is " The Goddess in You ".

We are allowed to prepare our designs/materials in advance so I came out with roses, butterflies and feather combination for my design. I spent whole day working on this on Friday , the day before the competition ! When you think bout t-shirt alteration , many would want to cut up the shirt but my goal is to make my girl look and feel beautiful. So my design's main focus is on the neckline , where I made 10 pink roses out of satin ribbon !





I tried to mix a few shades of pink but in the end I stick with the pale pink.





Added on pearls , sewn on the roses !





Pink for me is a very feminine color .  It's so soft and I think any girl would look good in pink. As for the butterflies, it signifies evolution and improvement which I think represents how the finalists went through months of training to become what they are today - such fine ladies , so confident and lovely on stage !





White = Purity = Goddess.

I know my thinking is very straight forward lol.





Since we have 10 minutes only , I hot-glued pins on the back of the roses for easy application later on stage.





Last minute , I learnt how to cut and tie up some simple knots too.

The competition day !

I would be lying if I said that I'm not nervous. When I'm nervous I would feel like throwing up lol. I spent like 2 hours thinking what to wear at home and in the end I went out with sleeveless top. Which I later went to H&M , purchased a sweater and changed on the spot because I'm super cold lol.

It's my first visit to Paradigm Mall too ! I'm surprised with all the variety of shops they have. Their H & M is pretty amazing plus lots of restaurants to choose from. Had lots of nice food and a movie " KL Gangster 2 " after the competition ends. I'm a super happy girl :D





Had Tonkatsu Ramen @ Goku Ramen for brunch ! I still prefer Taiko Ramen or Menya Musashi over this. The soup is kinda weird . ( - _____ - || )






Around 3 pm , I met up with my classmates. This is Jacey !

When it's my turn to go on stage , I was reallllllllllllllllly nervous but I tried to maintain my cool. I could not imagine the finalist's feelings at this point. They look so confident and beautiful on stage. Their smiles , so heart warming. I admired them for their courage to be able to present themselves so well on stage.

This is finalist no.7 Lisha ! She's even prettier in person and friendly! Though I didn't win the t-shirt design competition , I had my fair share of fun. My best wishes for her in the Miss Astro Finals next month ~ I'll be rooting for her !





Had some dessert @ Komugi afterwards ! Super love their cakes and bread ~ I had a Honey Bee Roll and Cheese Roll. Both are yummy ~ definitely worth a try :)
