Fashion Design ?

* This will be a wordy post ! *

It's the second week of my semester break ! I'm feeling so lifeless right now because I used to being so busy and having sleepless nights for the past 4 months ! Now all I wanna do is sleep , catch up with my drama series and cuddles my cats . ( * v * ) I know right , I'm so lazy ! =p Can't blame me why so lazy because my college really killing me and I have trauma lololololol ! #truestory

Anyways , it's 4th semester DOWN !! Some readers have been asking what am I studying currently ~ well I'm a Fashion Design student ~ I don't know what hit me and I decided on this course in like a week ?? Went to check out the college and enrolled a week after ! Never look back since then !! I wasn't sure if this is what I wanted but you know , I never feel so determined before this lol . * I'm not even this hardworking during high school * #anothertruestory

My first impression on Fashion Design is " making and designing clothes ". I thought that I will learn about how to sew and design garments only. Shallow lol ! I already have a little bit of sewing knowledge before going college so sewing subjects wasn't very difficult ~ I pretty enjoy drawing so I love drawing classes !  * At least in my mind I said yes , I can do this * You know , fashion design is much more than just sewing & drawing . For my first year , I learned many things ranging from mixing colors , computer designs , proper way to sew lining in a skirt , drawing with mixed media , basic photography , drafting patterns , how to choose fabric and so on. 

When semester 4 started , I'm like OMG PLEASE KILL ME. First week of the semester I already sleep around 3-4 am everyday. Seriously the horror max . My skin became really bad because of stress and all , so if your skin still pretty means you didn't work hard enough !! But then I'm calm myself down and slowly get used to the workload , thinking if this is bad , next semester will be worse LOL . Sometimes I think I'm a superman since I can juggle from drawing to sewing , drafting to cutting papers and making scrapbook/journals. Towards the end of the semester , with all the finals projects kicking in , I still can participate in AFA SG , hang out with my lovelies on weekends and take naps summore , yet I still can finish my assignments. I guess if I can manage my time properly , I am able to submit my assignments on time and play hard as well. * peace sign bro *

Shall show you some of my works this semester , so in case if you are interested in taking up Fashion Design , you'll get an idea what it's roughly about ~ =p

This is my research journal for my Fashion Movement subject this semester ! It's a design subject where you get to do research on a given topic and get inspirations from it to design a garment. For this semester , the theme is " New Medieval ".

I'm interested in Knights and Armour ! I enjoyed making this journal because I secretly like scrap-booking LOL. For this journal , I scribbled all my ideas around and choose to use my own hand writing instead of typing using computer. I think it's more personal this way =)

Next we had to do like over 100 ++ sketches of our initial ideas / idea development with color to show our lecturer. I think design is not my strength after all . I like making cute things more . #honesty

This is the " Make-up Board " for the garment that we designed earlier on. Like you have to decide on a make-up that goes with your garment. Love winged eyeliner and red lips ~ find it a really sexy combination ! ♥

Next up is the " Hairstyle Board ".

I learned a new thing from making this , those really pretty braids have a name and it's called the " Waterfall Braid " . Knowledge + 1

Fashion Illustration 1 .

Compilation of drawings we did for the past 4 months ! I would say that this is the most time consuming subject ever. Have to draw like 100 ++ of these figure drawings per week. I usually need to spend 2-3 days for this subject alone. But ! I LOVE DRAWING . ( * _____ * )

Lecturer comment that my style is " too anime-ish " and not high fashion enough. Which is a true story lol.

My Fashion Illustration x New Medieval Final Project.

No joke I really did a crappy job for this .. I don't really like the whole thing except the face and hair !! Spent most effort is coloring it ! ( -______-|| ) That's why I said I have no talent in design . Laugh die me when I see this. It's okay you can laugh together with me LOL.

Next subject : Textile Technology !

This is by far the most interesting subject ! I have a love-hate relationship with this subject. Love making it but at the same time it's tedious and time consuming as well. * foams *

This is the North American Smocking I did earlier this semester. Hand-sewn this non-stop from 10 am till 4 am the next day. Back almost broke lol . Oh well , the results were good so it's okay !

Patchwork !

I love cute fabric prints and spent around RM 100 ++ for all these lovely fabrics ! I still have lots of leftovers so I used them for my final project ~ also Christmas-Themed lol !

Beading !

Okay I'm really stingy and beads are expensive so I shared with my good friend then realized that small beads are too hard to sew and takes longer time !! And time is what I dont have !! Super lol then I asked another friend to help me buy longer glass beads so I can sew faster. 

Wanted to do a butterfly at first but no time so I came up with a total random design ! =p

Lecturer was hospitalized so no classes for tie-dye and macrame. Really tragic because I needed guidance on this but fret not , Youtube is a very good teacher !! Can't really understand the notes the lecturer sent me so I turn to Youtube for help instead. =(

Decided on the most simple tie-dye pattern ever because , again this is a very last minute work. Was halfway doing my macrame and working on this at the same time ! I think this wasn't too shabby for the first try !

Behold my Macrame !

I'm really proud of this because I spent whole day tying 2 rolls of strings together and the outcome looks like fabric ! Although it wasn't the 30 x 30 cm size required by lecturer , at least I did put effort in this rather than simply tying few strings together LOL .

After we finished compiling all the weekly assignments ( around 20 ++ of them ) , we need to make a cover for the file ! I am infatuated with cute things so my cover looks like this ! I feel calm and peaceful by looking at it LOL.

My Textile Technology Final Project !

Initially I have no idea on what to do for my final project and was kinda worried bout it. Most of my classmates already started working on theirs ! So I went to Midvalley to get some art supplies and got inspired by Christmas decorations . ( * ___ * )

We have to use at least 4 techniques that we learned from our weekly assignments and I chose applique' , patchwork , beading , stuffing and embroidery ! Took a long time making that penguin and I dab on some blusher on his face to make him look cuter lol !

Next up , Pattern Making's Final Project : Princess Style Line Dress !

OMG. I must admit that I don't really enjoy this subject because I dislike drafting. It's like doing maths that every calculation must be correct or else your garment won't turn out right. Requires lots of patience and concentration too. Imagine you draft wrong , cut fabric already only realize .. dang ! That's it la..

So our final project is a princess style line dress ~ we did everything from scratch , drafting our own patterns , making cutting patterns , choosing our own fabric and embellishments etc. Drafting the pattern took the longest time while sewing the dress only took 2 days to complete. Yay !

I don't really have time for a fancy-looking dress so I just bling up the collar with so beading and hand-sewn the lace on top! Wasn't very happy with it but glad I managed to finish it on time ! My first time making a fully lined dress too ! The process was really tedious. * sigh *

In conclusion ( lol so formal ) , I really enjoy taking up Fashion Design. People always say that Art Student need to work super hard because there will be endless assignments and all ~ sometimes we don't even get to sleep , lecturer always rejecting our works ... but it's all good for me because I kinda enjoy doing it. Some of the assignments are really interesting to work on , while some I don't really like but .. you know , I'm glad that I'm learning something new ! ( > ____ < ) No regrets ! I can't say that I'm super passionate about designing clothes ~ at least I'm enjoying the journey so far ! ♥ 

My cats are being really supportive and loving! Who says cats only come to you when you have food ! That's so not true !! There are times that I need to sit down whole day to do my assignments and my cats , especially Trumpet would just lay on the table , looking at me lol. Orange and Stumpy like to destroy my assignments but oh well , I still love them dearly ! It's nice whenever I'm stressed out , I get to pat them ~ then feel better instantly. Magical right ! I call this pet therapy LOL. ♥  ♥  ♥
