Comic Fiesta 2011 Day One | Marchen

Hello guys !

As I posted earlier , my group did a cosplay from Sound Horizon : Marchen for Comic Fiesta Day One ~ I guess not much people know bout this series but there are people that recognizes us during the event :) Sound Horizon is a band and Marchen is a song compilation of seven fairy tales /seven princesses / seven sins. The songs are kinda sad / twisted and sent chills down my spine but I enjoyed it very much. The vocals are soooo good ! Much thanks to Angie and Ryeain for introducing me to Marchen and inviting me to be a part of their wonderful group :D

My character is Aohigeko or also known as Bluebeard's 5th Wife . The sin for this song is " Lust ". Bluebeard tortured and killed all his previous wives and stored their corpses in a room. His 5th wife was also one of the corpse that got hung in the room . In the beginning of the song , Aohigeko wondered why her favourite white dress is so red , only to realize that she's already dead.


This is my first time cosplaying a sad / tortured character . I'm struggling and imagined myself being tortured and visualize how would I look like but failed D: I still have much to work on my facial expressions ~ I look constipated in most of my photos lol ! I had no problems making this gown ~ in fact I kinda enjoy sewing gowns now ~ I can wear slippers beneath my gown lololol !  / unglam

Took me awhile figuring out how to construct this gown. Initially I wanted to make it a one piece gown but decided that separating the top and skirt would be easier. I had a hard time matching the red laces because there aren't much type of laces to choose from .... Relieved that it turned out to look the way I wanted it to be despite rushing my assignments and studying for exams as well ~ * A *


Will be adding more laces / details for my costume before the full group photoshoot  ♥

Costumes for Comic Fiesta 2011 !

Hello guys !

I bet everyone is having the " post-event withdrawal " syndrome right now ! Gosh ~ I have so many things to unpack after Comic Fiesta 2011 : my wigs / costumes / other stuffs but I'm kinda lazy right now. I had lots of fun catching up with friends and also meeting new lovely people !

Comic Fiesta 2011 was kinda unpredictable. It was held in KLCC Convention Centre and it was super packed ! For Day 1 CF , I only managed to get to the event around 3 pm and it rained lol . My group cosplayed as Sound Horizon : Marchen . I did the 7th Maiden , Aohigeko or also known as Sir Blue's Wife . Some of my group members wore gown so our gowns were wet because we hang out around the park most of the time. :p Didn't get to visit the halls also because the queue was super looooong. 

Day 2 Comic Fiesta was better ! I cosplayed as the personification of Baskin Robbins and my flavour is " Strawberry Milk ". My BR group managed to get in Hall 4 and we camped there whole day :D . I'm happy being able to exchange coscards with other cosplayers ! Managed to catch up with other cosplayer / photographer friends too :) Lots of epic and awesome cosplays to see . How I wish that I have a camera to snap everyone's picture !

Made this gown using red matte satin. Couldn't find nicer red ( blood red ) but I'm kinda happy with the outcome ~ will bling it up with more laces for the group photoshoot ! :)

Didn't have enough time to print out the Baskin Robbins logo ~ My team mates's costume designs are so wonderful ~ everybody is so colorful and creative :) I feel kinda ashamed with my design lol . Shall add in more accessories and stuff later ! Pink is my favourite color >/////<

One more week to go !

I'm almost there ! * A *

Been working extra hard on my assignments and I sometimes wonder where all my motivation and determination come from ~ I have a classmate who is extremely hardworking and finished almost all his assignments which made me feel lazy but fired up to catch up !

Final project for Fundamental Drawing ! A huge A1 sized painting that took me weeks to slowly color part by part. Finally left background only ~ should take more or less one day more to complete !

Part two of History of Art and Design weekly assignments. Seriously this one can drive me crazy. So many mini paintings to complete. This is for Abstract art - warm and cool colors !

My version of Picasso's multi point view and Matisse's strong contrast style of painting. I hope that this is correct if not I will roll on the floor and cry if I have to re-do lol

Seurat's Pointillism. OMG THIS ! I spent whole night punching holes from colored papers to make this flower picture. Doesn't look very convincing but arghh my patience level just went up by doing this assignment.

Surrealism . This is a very emotional piece for me. For those who follow my blog , I have a cat named Twurdie earlier this year but she left due to sickness. I've missed her very much. Though I always believe that she's somehwhere in cat heaven. :')

Design Theory 's Typography final project. My first time using Adobe Illustrator. Sat in front of the laptop since 9 am to figure out how to use it and I came out with 3 designs. I have no idea how to align the words , might have to re-do.

* keeps my fingers crossed * I hope that I can finish everything up and then fully concentrate on my holidays and costume ! * cough cough * Video-shooting for 3D assignment in two days time and English exam tomorrow ! Gosh ~ I need some good luck here !

I have so many new wigs to style and play with but no time to do so . . . * fire burning * Shall go and finish up my 3D costume now !

Hi guys !

My last cosplay photoshoot for the month of November 2011 before I totally focus on my Comic Fiesta costumes ! My costume progress is currently still 0% . I should be worried by now since it's barely 1 month till CF ! I will and must finish 3 costumes by then . . . plus my finals @ college . * sweats *

This is a cosplay from Zone - 00 , Murakumo Candies ! Murakumo Candies is a group consist of three girls - Ran , Miki and Xu. Murakumo is the head / chief police . ( and we are his candies ? ) * A *

It was fun cosplaying with Jerry again and he is such a manly Murakumo ! * fangirls * He even made his own white coat !

Basic Tools For Sewing

Hello guys !

Today I would like to share about the basic tools /equipment needed to start sewing and making your own costume. There are lots of sewing equipment around in stores : some are really basic while some are more specialized. :)

But of course~ for beginners ( like me ) we don't really need fancy sewing equipment/tools yet so basic tools will do for now. The sewing tools listed below are those I commonly use every time I make a new cosplay costume !

1. Measuring Tape

This is used to take body measurement . There are two sides , one in " inch" and another side in " CM ".

2. Tracing Wheel

Used with tracing paper to transfer pattern markings on fabric.

3. Tailor's Chalk Pencil & Tailor's Chalk

Both used to mark on the fabric ( can be removed by washing ). I prefer the chalk pencil though , it draws finer lines :)

4. Bent-handled Shears & Normal Scissors

Bent-handled shears are for fabric cutting. Not advisable to use for cutting paper lol or you might spoil it. I use normal scissors for paper pattern cutting or cutting threads.

5. Tailor's Ruler

Used for measuring during pattern drawing . There are different kind of rulers but I use this most often :)

6. Glass Headed Pins & Pin Cushion

Pins are available in different thickness and length but I like glass headed pins because they are easier to handle during sewing ! This pin cushion has been following me since I first started sewing :)

7. Threads and Plastic Bobbins

8. Plastic Bobbins

Plastic bobbins are used for portable sewing machines. The older types uses metal bobbins if I'm not mistaken. ;p

9. Storage Cases For Small Sewing Tools

I use this to store all my threads , buttons , machine feet , bobbins and etc . More organized and I won't have trouble finding them when I need it.

10. Carbon Tracing Paper

This is like one of the most important tool in my sewing process ! It helps to mark both sides of the fabric so you won't have to do double work~ a must have !

11. Portable Sewing Machine

Totally optional but it helps you from getting insane . Any type of sewing machine will do. You can hand sew too but it takes more time and patience :)

12. Old Newspaper

Used for pattern making ! I used to buy mahjong paper but old newspaper are more economic and convenient lol

13. Fabric

Will talk about different kinds of fabric next time !

14. Buttons / Laces / Buckles / Gems / Bias Tapes / Ribbons / ETC

You will need lots of these when you are making cosplay costumes :D

15. Sewing Guide Books

I started learning how to sew by learning the basics for a month from my aunty ! Then I start buying sewing books and also look for online tutorials. There are so many sewing tutorials online nowadays ~ It helps ! :D

16. Sewing Note Book

I write down all my body measurements , mini patterns , notes , and costumes drafts in a note book so that I can refer back when I am making similar style costume. :D

17. Ready Made Patterns

This is for my reference only. Unfortunately I'm too big sized to fit these small patterns ~ so I'll refer to how the pattern shape roughly looks like if I'm lost. There are a wide variety of ready made patterns available online / shops but it's not cheap :x

18. Costume References

Before you start making your costumes , you should do some research on how the costume looks like : the length , cutting , color etc ~ look for front and back view / small details on the costume . If there aren't any clear reference online , you can always look for the manga or screen cap from the anime lol

I'm still a beginner in sewing / costume making so please don't mind if I make mistakes here and there > w < ~ Just wanna share what I know about sewing and I still have much more to learn ~Do share with me if you happen to know any good sewing blogs yeah ! ♥

This is the most relaxed and fun cosplay photoshoot I had ever ! Firstly the costume was quite simple and airy . ( unlike girl cosplays that usually requires lots of accessories and make-up lol ) Ittoki Otoya is my no.1 favourite character in the series because he is just so energetic and happy like a little puppy ! * A *

Ittoki is like the second shortest character in the anime , but I'm the tallest among my team mates ! Much thanks to my lovelies Ryeain and Akiyumi for suffering in 20 cm heels just for me. /group hugs

People have been asking where is our Nanami , unfortunately we don't have one for this shoot ! ( last minute planning :/ ) However we will be doing another version for Utapuri soon and yes , we found a Nanami ~ so do stay tuned ! * v *
